If you have ever read Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki (best selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad), you’ll know that there are four ways to get income:

E - as an employee

According to Kiyosaki, the rich people (about 5% of the population) earn their money through the B and I methods, whereas the poor and average wage earners (the other 95% of the population) earn their money through the E and S methods.  So if you’re an employee or self-employed and you plan to become financially free, then you really need to find a way to get from the left side of the diagram above, to the right side. 

Kiyosaki recommends tackling either the B quadrant or the I quadrant and once you are successful in your chosen path, you can start building up your assets following the other path.  In a nutshell, the plan is to eventually own a big business and have an investment portfolio.
