The hubby and I have a pact for the new year. Every so often, the hubby gets tempted to buy Magnum 4D numbers in hopes that we’ll strike the lottery. I, on the other hand, believe that we could get money faster by saving it rather than spending it on lottery tickets. Our pack is that for every dollar he spends on Magnum 4D or any other lottery ticket, I will keep the equivalent dollar in a piggy bank. By the end of the year, we’ll see who has more money - me through the savings, or him through his winnings.
I still remember my maths lessons - the odds are always in favour of the casino (agency handling the bookings).
When my brother was a student, he would by $2 raffle tickets hoping to win a car. My cousin once told him, “K, save your money for the car, you’ll get one faster that way.” The only good thing that came out of it was that these raffle tickets were usually fundraisers for a good cause, so he was doing a good service by donating his money.
Back to the pack between hubby and me, this is the count so far:
Hubby: -$10
Me: $10
There is a Chinese superstition that pregnant women are supposed to be “lucky” so the hubby asked me to pick four digits for him. I chose 5280. The first prize number was 5028. So near, yet so far…
